Shirley Kinard-Lemon resides in Rena Lara, MS with her husband, Sylvester, and their son, Brandon. Her mailing address is 1664 Highway # 1 Alligator, MS 38720.
      Shirley attended Coahoma County High School from 1971-1975, where she played two years with the Lady Panthers.  She served as team captain. She averaged 18 points and 15 rebounds per game.
       From 1975-1977, Shirley attended Coahoma Junior College on an athletic and academic scholarship.  During her two years at Coahoma, she averaged 12 points and 15 rebounds per game. She graduated from Coahoma with an
Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.
        Her talent and skills garnered her two scholarships to attend Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS from 1977-1979.  While at “The Valley”, she played two years and she averaged 14 points and 15 rebounds per game. Shirley graduated from Mississippi Valley State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
         Shirley was offered the opportunity to play professional basketball with the San Francisco Pioneers of San Francisco, California, but due to family commitments, she wasn’t able to accept this position.
        Shirley than became an Elementary Teacher as well as Assistant Basketball Coach. After dedicating her teaching abilities for 30.5 years to the Quitman County and Clarksdale Municipal School Districts, she retired in 2009.
       Shirley greeted every challenge with an “I Can Attitude”. Her personal philosophy is the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.
