Known as a hard-nosed defensive player and tenacious rebounder, Geoffery Williams, Sr. was a two-year starter at Coahoma playing under Coach James Washington. A two-sport star at Coahoma Agricultural High School, Williams was a three-years starter on both the Aggie football and basketball team before accepting a scholarship to continue his basketball career at Coahoma Community College in 1995. During his sophomore season in 1996, Williams was selected as a captain by his teammates because of his leadership skills both on and off the court. He earned his associates degree in Elementary Education at Coahoma before transferring to continue both his basketball career and education at Arkansas State University. In 1999, Williams was a part of the only team in Arkansas State history to earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament. He graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in Education and headed out overseas to play basketball professionally in both Norway and Venezuela. Currently, Williams is the Sales Manager of one of the largest Kia Retail Dealerships in the Tri-State area and a proud member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Looking back at his time at Coahoma, Geoffery Sr. said, “Growing up, I did not have any siblings. During my time at Coahoma playing basketball, I formed a brotherhood with the guys that I played with that will last a lifetime.”
