Coahoma Community College Athletics Hall of Fame
Louise “Snapper” Perkins- Davis was born and reared in Sherard, MS. She started playing basketball at the age of 10 at Sherard Elementary School. She was so small, Mrs. Evans, the Home Economics’ teacher had to make her uniforms. The company didn’t have her size when she started playing. Throughout her basketball career school, she started as a point guard.
She loved the game so much she slept with her basketball every night. She played with her brother, his friends, Shirley Kinard and her brothers along with Cheryl Stanton and don’t you know they won every game.
She started her high school basketball career @ Coahoma County High School from 1971-1975. She served as team captain her junior and senior year. She averaged 24.5 points per game her junior year and 26.2 points per game her senior year. She averaged approximately 6 steals per game, 5 to 6 assist per game and approximately 4 rebounds per game. She made all DVC (years), All District (3 years) and two time All American her junior and senior year. During every Invitational Tournament, she was MVP, which was about 6 per year. In her senior year she went to the North Half in 1975 and made MVP.
She received a full basketball scholarship to Coahoma Community College. During her 2 years; she averaged 25.6 points per game, average approximately 5 to 10 steals per game, approximately 8 assists per game and approximately 4 rebounds per game. During college she made All District (2 times) All State (2 times) Regional Recipient and MVP every time.
All of these outstanding accomplishments led to her receiving a full scholarship to Mississippi Valley State University.
Basketball was her heart and most divine love.
