CHARLES F. REID has always been dedicated to the tasks that he takes on. He works diligently, sometimes alone and along with others, to see the work to fruition. He is not selfish with his time, his talents, his tenacity, and his love for his community.

His knowledge, his genuineness, his gentle spirit, and his eagerness to serve others have won him favor and the opportunity to serve in the following manner: he served as president of Clarksdale/Coahoma County Chamber of Commerce, he started the Clean Up Clarksdale Campaign, as the inception of Tri-County Workforce Alliance (1996) (an organization that works with workforce development and workforce preparation) he served and still serves as a volunteer board mem-ber and a member of the Out-of-Work Taskforce; he has volunteered with the Coahoma County Unit of the American Cancer Society and Red Cross as a board member and helped with fund raisers to help those who are less fortunate; He headed the membership drive for Boy Scouts of America; served on the Board of Direc-tors and the Education Committee for the Coahoma County Federal Teachers Credit Union; because of his concern for the education of children in Coahoma County, he has served on the Board of Directors of Coaho-ma Opportunities (Head Start), Clarksdale Municipal School District and the Delta Blues Museum and presently serves on theCarnegie Public Library. As a member of the Rotary Club, he helps to distribute dic-tionaries to all elementary students in the County.

He volunteers to read to elementary students in the schools and he served as a mentor to high school and com-munity college young men. He has worked untiringly in the concession stand during football and basketball seasons at Coahoma Community College to help raise money to purchase items for the athletic programs.

Presently, he serves as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors for Northwest MS Regional Medical Center, Clarksdale/Coahoma County Airport, Coahoma Community College Foundation, Clarksdale/Coahoma County Industrial Foundation, and a member of the Superintendent's Round Table of the Clarksdale Municipal School District.

Recently, he led the charge with the help of the Coahoma County Board of Supervisors to restore and clean up a historic cemetery. In May 2012, Mr. Reid won the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi's Presi-dential Volunteer Award for Coahoma County.

Not only does he work in the greater community, he volunteers in his churchHaven United Methodist Church, working with the finance committee, United Methodist Men, Board of Trustees and the chairman of the Higher Education Committee.

He also volunteers in his fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha, having served as president, vice president, and Cluster Coordinator for Northwest Mississippi. He works yearly to raise money for scholarships for high school young men and women.
