Box Score 2 CONWAY, Ark.—The Baseball Tigers split a doubleheader with the Arkansas Baptist Tuesday, downing the Buffaloes 8-7 before going down 13-6 in Game 2. Right fielder Adam Cook had 4 of the 10 hits for CCC in the win, combining with Braxton Wall to bring in 4 of the Tigers' 8 runs.
Michael Allen got the ball to start for the Tigers. He would combine with Hunter Collins and Adam McPhail to notch CCC's second non-conference win of the season. Collins picked up his first victory after relieving Allen, and McPhail was able to rack up his second save by closing the game out.
Cook enjoyed a terrific performance at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 4 singles and 2 RBI. Braxton Wall was able to bring in Caleb Lindsey early in the contest with a double and then brought in Tyler Crouch later in the contest by drawing an HBP.
The win was the first of the season for the team's first against the Buffs, who had previously swept CCC in a Clarksdale doubleheader on March 29th.
Game 2 got off to a promising start for CCC, who was looking for its first twinbill sweep of the season. Wall drove in another first inning run, this time with a sac fly that again scored Lindsey. He picked up his fourth RBI of the day by knocking in Lindsey one more time with a single in the 3rd. TJ Knowles and Cook also picked up RBIs in the inning to help the Tigers build a 4-0 advantage.
The Arkansas Baptist bats awoke shortly thereafter though. They went off for a 7-run 3rd inning and then followed it up with a 6-run 4th to help build an insurmountable edge against an array of CCC pitchers. The win was the 16th of the year for Arkansas Baptist.
The games were played at Bears Stadium on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. They were the last non-conference games currently scheduled for CCC in 2015, though it is possible that, due to previous cancellations, another non-conference doubleheader could be scheduled.
