Box Score 2 CLARKSDALE, Miss. –– The Coahoma Community College Tigers split a Saturday doubleheader with Southwest Mississippi Community College, falling 7-4 in Game 1 before rebounding for an 8-3 victory in Game 2.
In the opener, the Tigers grabbed an early lead but could not hold off a late push from the Bears.
Coahoma struck first in the opening inning when West singled to drive in a run. The Tigers added another in the second after Landon Smith doubled down the left-field line.
Southwest Mississippi turned the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring five runs on five hits to take a 7-4 lead. Jonathan Miller delivered the biggest hit of the inning with a two-run triple.
Ryne Herrington started on the mound for the Tigers, allowing six hits and two runs over six innings while striking out one and walking four.
Gregory Fore led Coahoma at the plate, going 2-for-4 from the leadoff spot. West finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs as the Tigers turned two double plays defensively.
The Bears finished with 12 hits. Tanner Moore, Robbie Hokamp and Luke Simmons each collected two hits, while Miller drove in two runs. Cameron Bolden stole two bases as Southwest Mississippi swiped three total. The Bears were error-free in the field, with Drew Swan recording a team-high eight chances.
In Game 2, the Tigers answered with a strong offensive showing and a complete-game effort on the mound.
Landon Smith led Coahoma with four RBIs, highlighted by a three-run home run to left field in the second inning. He later added another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the fifth.
The Tigers broke the game open in the fifth inning, scoring five runs despite recording just one hit. Anderson Walker singled to drive in a run, while Bryce Williams, Smith and Baker each drew bases-loaded walks. Fore added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.
Tanner Bridgewater went the distance for the Tigers, allowing nine hits and three runs over seven innings while walking two and striking out none.
Coahoma showed patience at the plate, drawing 11 walks. Walker led the way with three. Walker, Williams, Smith, Fore and West each recorded a hit, while Baker added two stolen bases. The Tigers also turned three double plays.
Southwest Mississippi collected nine hits in Game 2, with Swan and JD Hidalgo each recording two. Hidalgo and Justin Domiano each drove in a run for the Bears.
"I felt like we played really well," head coach Austin Biggs said. "It's always good to see our guys bounce back, especially on the road."

Coahoma Tigers Baseball will return to action next Saturday, April 25, 2026 against Meridian Community College at home.
