Box Score 2 CLARKSDALE Miss. –– The Coahoma Community College Tigers delivered a strong performance in game one but couldn't carry the momentum into the nightcap, splitting Sunday's doubleheader against the Meridian Eagles.
Coahoma opened the day with authority, cruising to a 10-3 victory behind timely hitting and a dominant outing on the mound. The Tigers wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning, sparked by an RBI single from Anderson Walker, a defensive miscue by Meridian, and a three-run blast to right field from Bryce Williams.
The offense continued to build in the third inning as Landon Smith laced a double down the left field line and West was hit by a pitch, each bringing in a run to extend the lead.
On the mound, Ryne Herrington was in complete control, tossing a complete game while allowing just three runs on six hits. The right-hander struck out nine and issued only one walk in an efficient performance.
Williams led the charge offensively, driving in three runs, while also contributing at the plate alongside Walker, Baker, and West. The Tigers showed patience throughout the game, drawing nine walks and adding pressure on the basepaths with three stolen bases. Defensively, Coahoma was flawless, with James Washington leading the way with 10 chances.
Meridian saw contributions from Brown at the plate, who collected multiple hits, while the Eagles also turned two double plays defensively.
Game two told a different story, as Coahoma fell 22-7 in a high-scoring affair despite collecting 13 hits.
The Tigers showed early fight, tying the game in the second inning after Baker doubled down the left field line. West stayed hot at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with singles in the first, third, and sixth innings.
Meridian got on the board early in the first inning after Johnson singled down the right field line and Hovater grounded out, each scoring a run. Coahoma responded in the second, but Meridian regained the lead in the third after McKinley grounded out and Johnson added another RBI single.
The Eagles broke the game open in the later innings. In the sixth, Brown singled to drive in two runs, Hovater reached on a fielder's choice that brought in a run, and Allen, Swearingen, and Jackson each drew bases-loaded walks to score. Brown added two more RBIs in the inning.
Meridian continued to surge in the seventh, as Hovater doubled in two runs, Gideon singled in a run, Jackson doubled to bring in two more, McKinley tripled to score two, and Driver capped the inning with an RBI single.
Brown and Jackson proved to be a tough combination in the lineup, each driving in four runs for the Eagles, while Driver and Johnson added multiple hits. Jackson also showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks, as Meridian totaled 14 walks and six stolen bases in the game.
Tanner Bridgewater got the start for Coahoma, allowing six runs over four and one-third innings, while Meridian's Moore went four and one-third innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out six.
Offensively, Walker, Baker, and West each tallied three hits for Coahoma, as the Tigers finished with 13 total. Despite the loss, Coahoma remained sharp defensively, committing no errors, with Bryce Williams leading the team with seven chances.

"I'm super proud of how well our guys competed today. They've been playing good, clean baseball all season. Ryne Herrington was the biggest highlight. It was really great to see him go the distance."
