CLARKSDALE, Miss. - The Coahoma Community College Tigers will travel to Moorhead, Mississippi, on Thursday, Oct. 15, to face the Mississippi Delta Community College Trojans at 7 p.m. inside Jim Randall Stadium.
The Tigers enter the contest looking to bounce back from a 48-21 home loss to East Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Oct. 8. Coahoma aims to build momentum on both sides of the ball and put together a complete showing of offense and defense against the Trojans.
Despite the results of the last matchup, Coahoma has demonstrated its ability to compete in close contests this season and produce explosive plays. Against East Mississippi, quarterback Jacob Clopton completed 13 of 24 pass attempts for 170 yards and three touchdowns. Wide receiver Abraylen Jenkins hauled in two of those scores, including a 55-yard strike, while defensively, Josh Gale paced the Tigers with a team-high 10 total tackles.
The Tigers also suffered a narrow 42-41 defeat against Itawamba Community College, a 27-21 loss to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and a 36-33 loss against Holmes Community College. These performances highlight the team's potential as MACCC North Division play continues.
Mississippi Delta enters its homecoming matchup following a 35-17 loss to Northeast Mississippi Community College. However, under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Ernest T. Jones, the Trojans have shown major resilience this season, including a notable 24-15 upset victory over No. 5 East Mississippi in late September. The Trojans will look to utilize their home-field advantage as they welcome the visiting Tigers.
For Coahoma, execution in key situations will be crucial. Sustaining offensive drives, creating defensive stops, and limiting mistakes will be major factors in challenging the Trojans. Thursday's game marks the final road trip for Coahoma, presenting another opportunity for the team to demonstrate its growth, compete with determination, and work toward a strong finish to the season.
Following the matchup, the Tigers will return to Clarksdale to host their own homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m.
