CLARKSDALE, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College Tigers nearly pulled off a thrilling fourth-quarter victory, but ultimately fell 42-41 to Itawamba Community College on Thursday, Sept. 24, at James E. Miller Stadium in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

The Tigers produced 516 yards of total offense, balancing 233 rushing yards with 283 passing yards, but surrendered a go-ahead touchdown with just 40 seconds remaining in the game.
Coahoma started strong, taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter behind two rushing touchdowns from Prentavis Madison, including a 25-yard breakaway run. After Itawamba responded with a two-yard score, quarterback Jacob Clopton connected with Anthony Thurman on an 18-yard touchdown pass to extend the Tigers' advantage to 21-7 early in the second quarter.

Itawamba quickly cut the deficit with a 98-yard touchdown sprint by Tydarion Grier, but the Tigers regained momentum just before halftime. Clopton found Abraylen Jenkins for a 23-yard touchdown pass, sending Coahoma into the locker room with a 28-14 lead.

The teams traded scores in the third quarter, with Itawamba's Braylon Matthews catching a 28-yard touchdown pass and Clopton answering with a six-yard rushing touchdown to keep the Tigers ahead 35-21. Itawamba mounted a comeback, scoring a touchdown early in the fourth quarter on a 26-yard pass to Matthews to cut the lead to 35-28. Andrew Harrison extended the Coahoma lead with a 34-yard field goal, but Itawamba answered with a two-yard touchdown run by Grier to pull within three points at 38-35.

After defensive back Arlanders Stovall secured a crucial interception, Harrison connected on a 38-yard field goal with 1:36 left to give the Tigers a 41-35 advantage. However, Brayden Trusty engineered a 71-yard drive for the Indians, throwing a 16-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Ter'Myihias Welch with 40 seconds remaining to secure the 42-41 victory.

Game Highlights and Statistics

•  Quarterback Jacob Clopton completed 21 of 29 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 82 rushing yards and a score on the ground.
•  Prentavis Madison paced the rushing attack with 83 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
•  Isaac Day contributed 65 rushing yards on 11 attempts.
•  Abraylen Jenkins led all receivers with nine catches for 117 yards and one touchdown.
•  Jaden Moses hauled in five receptions for 75 yards, and Anthony Thurman caught three passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.
•  Demarcus Brown provided a reliable target, securing four catches for 45 yards.
•  Arlanders Stovall intercepted a pass late in the fourth quarter and returned it 28 yards, setting up Coahoma's final field goal.
•  Andrew Harrison converted all five of his extra-point attempts and went 2-for-3 on field goals, hitting from 34 and 38 yards.
