Connor McHenry is an emerging baseball coach with a growing reputation for his ability to develop players and foster competitive, team-first environments. A native of Pearl, Mississippi, Connor has completed his Bachelor of Science in Coaching and Leadership at Belhaven University while beginning graduate studies working toward a Master's degree in Sports Administration. He previously earned his Associate of Arts degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College, where he also excelled as a student-athlete.
Connor has gained valuable experience across multiple levels of the game, both as a player and coach. He has built a strong coaching foundation through roles with the Jackson 96ers and Belhaven University. With the 96ers, he has been instrumental in calling pitches, developing practice plans, coordinating tournaments, and guiding players through the recruiting process—efforts that have helped several athletes secure opportunities to continue their careers at the collegiate level.
At Belhaven, Connor has played a hands-on role in player development, assisting with hitters, catchers, and first basemen while also contributing to recruiting and game preparation. His efforts were part of the program's historic run to its first-ever NCAA Division III Regional and Super Regional appearances, a milestone achievement for the Blazers.
As a player, Connor competed as both a first baseman and catcher, bringing versatility and leadership to the field. At Southwest Mississippi Community College, he started in all 51 games of the 2023 season, finishing with a .298 batting average, 10 doubles, and 185 plate appearances. His consistent production, toughness, and team-oriented mindset made him a respected leader among his teammates.
Connor's coaching philosophy emphasizes preparation, leadership, and holistic player development. He believes in teaching athletes how to compete with discipline and confidence, while also preparing them for life beyond baseball. His passion for the game is matched by his dedication to helping young athletes maximize their potential, both on and off the field.
Looking ahead, Connor aspires to continue climbing the coaching ranks, with a long-term goal of leading a collegiate program of his own. With his foundation of playing experience, academic training, and early coaching success, he is positioning himself as one of the promising young coaches in the game today.
