Coahoma Community College Welcomes Tonorris O. Brookins II as New Wide Receiver Coach

The Coahoma Tigers are adding a new spark to their offensive firepower with the addition of Tonorris O. Brookins II as the Wide Receiver Coach — a rising star in the coaching world whose leadership, discipline, and firsthand playing experience make him the perfect fit to develop the next generation of Tiger talent.

Brookins is no stranger to Mississippi football. Born and bred in the state, he carved out his own legacy on the field — first as a standout starter at Starkville High School, then as a playmaker at the powerhouse East Mississippi Community College, and finally as a key contributor and Team Captain at Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU). His journey through these levels reflects a player who never settled, always pushed, and rose to the occasion — traits he now brings into his coaching career.

Tonorris isn't just a former athlete. He's a student of the game and a developing sports professional with a passion for mentoring young men both on and off the field. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Social Science from MVSU and is on track to complete his Master's in Sports Administration in Fall 2024 — a clear signal that he's not just committed to the grind, but to the growth.

While finishing his graduate studies, Brookins dove into the behind-the-scenes work of college football, interning with the MVSU Football Program. There, he supported both the coaching staff and the strength & conditioning department, assisting with everything from practice planning and film breakdown to athlete rehabilitation and player development. This hands-on experience gave him a unique perspective on team operations — and sharpened his ability.to lead with intention and purpose.

Those who know Coach Brookins speak highly of his relentless work ethic, high character, and his rare ability to connect with players on a deeper level. He's not here to just coach routes and plays — he's here to build men, develop competitors, and push his receivers to be great in every phase of life.

As Coahoma gears up for a new chapter filled with grit, discipline, and relentless pursuit of excellence, Coach Brookins is stepping in at just the right time. His energy is contagious, his vision is clear, and his loyalty to Mississippi football runs deep.

"Coach Brookins brings the type of energy, leadership, and hunger that fits perfectly with what we're building here at Coahoma," said Head Coach Larry Williams. "He knows the game, he connects with players, and he's ready to get to work. We're glad to have him on board."

"I'm grateful for this opportunity and ready to get to work," Brookins added"Coahoma has talent, and I'm here to help elevate that. My goal is to build wide receivers who play fast, think smart, and carry themselves with pride on and off the field."

With Coach Tonorris O. Brookins II on the sidelines, expect the Tigers' receiving corps to bring more than just hands and speed — expect leadership, culture, and a new level of fire. Welcome to Coahoma, Coach Brookins. The grind starts now.
