Coahoma Community College

Coahoma Community College is proud to welcome **Larry Williams** as the new Head Football Coach for the Tigers. A seasoned leader with a championship pedigree, Coach Williams brings decades of coaching expertise, a commitment to student-athlete development, and a passion for excellence both on and off the field.  

A native of Mississippi, Williams boasts an impressive 33-19 (.634) record as a former head coach at Hinds Community College, where he guided his teams to multiple national rankings and a Graphic Edge Bowl appearance. Under his leadership, Hinds finished 8th in the NJCAA national rankings in 2019 and reached the 2021 MACCC State Championship game as the runner-up against Northwest Mississippi Community College.  

Throughout his career, Williams has demonstrated a proven ability to develop top-tier talent, helping numerous players earn All-State and All-Region honors and advance to four-year institutions to continue their academic and athletic careers.  

Before transitioning to coaching, Williams made his mark as a standout defensive end at Mississippi State University, where he led the Bulldogs in sacks during the 1994 and 1995 seasons. His dominance on the field earned him the title of Most Valuable Defensive Player in the Peach Bowl. He went on to play professionally for the Baltimore Ravens (NFL) and the Scottish Claymores (World League of American Football).  

As the Tigers enter a new era under Williams’ leadership, he is focused on fostering a culture of discipline, growth, and competitive success. His philosophy centers on developing student-athletes who excel in the classroom, on the field, and in life.  

"I am honored to lead this program and eager to build on its proud traditions," said Williams. My goal is to develop student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom while taking this team to new heights." 

Coahoma Community College President Dr. Valmadge T. Towner praised Williams' leadership, stating:
