CLARKSDALE, MS — The Coahoma Community College Tigers are making waves on the national stage, as the Track & Field program delivered an unforgettable performance at the 2025 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.
Freshman standout Shacora Jurden jumped her way into the national spotlight with a remarkable 7th-place finish in the triple jump, earning NJCAA All-American honors in her first season. Her performance ranks her 7th in the nation—an extraordinary achievement that speaks volumes about her talent and drive.
Joining her on the national leaderboard was Kielon Jones, who finished 9th overall in the triple jump. His strength and consistency throughout the season culminated in a strong national finish. In the sprints, Elijah White held his own in a stacked field of talent, placing in the Top 28 nationally in the 100-meter dash. His speed and work ethic continue to make him a key contributor for the Tigers.
These three athletes showed the heart, hustle, and determination that define what it means to wear the maroon and white. Their efforts didn't just represent Coahoma—they inspired it.
"This is a major step forward for our program," said Assistant Head Coach Victor Montgomery. "To have this kind of presence at nationals, especially with a freshman earning All-American, says a lot about the direction we're headed."
Head Coach Reggy Hankerson also praised the team's performance and growth, noting the significance of having multiple athletes compete at such a high level. "We're building something special here. The foundation is in place, and this is only the beginning," said Hankerson.
Jurden, who has quickly become one of the brightest young stars in the NJCAA, remained humble and grounded in her moment of triumph.
"I want to thank God for letting me see this opportunity!" Jurden said. "I also want to thank my coaches for pushing me beyond my comfort zone and giving me this opportunity on the next level. Last but not least, I truly appreciate my family for believing in me."
Jurden's words reflect the gratitude and character that she brings not only to the track but to the Tiger family as a whole. Her journey from freshman to All-American is one of perseverance, faith, and unwavering commitment.
Shacora, Kielon, and Elijah have set the bar high for the next generation of Coahoma athletes. Their success is a direct result of tireless effort, high expectations, and the unwavering support of a coaching staff that believes in developing student-athletes on and off the field.
Each of them has elevated the reputation of Coahoma Track & Field on the national level. Their performance in Kansas sends a clear message—Coahoma belongs.
The momentum from this national showing will no doubt carry into upcoming seasons. The future of Tiger Track & Field has never looked brighter.
Congratulations to Shacora Jurden, Kielon Jones, Elijah White, and to Coach Hankerson, Coach Montgomery, and the entire staff for guiding these young Tigers to excellence.
