OXFORD, Miss. — The Coahoma Community College Tigers track and field team secured a personal best and multiple top-ten finishes during the Joe Walker Invitational hosted by Ole Miss on April 10-11, 2026.
Nickolas Rogers led the Tigers on the track, setting a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.77 seconds to place 10th. Rogers also clocked a time of 11.00 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Destiny Lucas provided consistency for the women's team, finishing the 400-meter dash in 1:00.45 and running a 12.71 in the 100-meter dash.
In the field events, Shacora Jurden and Sanchez Brooks turned in strong results for Coahoma. Jurden placed sixth overall in the women's long jump with a mark of 5.58 meters (18-03.75). Brooks secured a ninth-place finish in the men's long jump, leaping 6.53 meters (21-05.25). The men's 4x100-meter relay team, featuring Lavoriontaye Willis, Moore LaZarrin, Rogers, and Brooks, finished second in their race with a time of 41.85 seconds.
Other notable finishes included TaMoria Shannon completing the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:14.08. In the men's sprints, LaZarrin posted times of 11.18 in the 100-meter dash and 22.92 in the 200-meter dash, while Miner Kewan finished the 400-meter dash in 54.10 seconds. Willis also added a time of 22.77 seconds in the 200-meter dash.
The Tigers will return to action on Saturday, April 25, at the MS College Twilight Invitational in Clinton, Miss.
