Tigers show strong performances at Twilight Invitational

Coahoma Community College posted several strong performances at the Mike McMillan Alumni Twilight Meet on April 24 at Mississippi College's James E. Parkman Track, highlighted by personal records and continued postseason momentum.

Sanchez Brooks led the men's efforts with a personal-best mark of 13.74 meters in the triple jump, finishing second overall. The freshman recorded consistent attempts throughout the competition, including marks of 13.61 and 13.40 meters, signaling continued progression heading into the final stretch of the outdoor season.

On the women's side, Shacora Jurden continued her standout campaign by setting a school record and personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 12.16 meters. She also posted a 5.95-meter effort in the long jump.
A two-time NJCAA national qualifier in both the long jump and triple jump, Jurden earned All-America honors in the triple jump last season and remains one of Coahoma's top performers entering the postseason.

The Lady Tigers also saw a solid relay performance from the 4x100-meter team of Alena Collins, Destiny Lucas, Neyiah Bynum and TaMoria Shannon, which placed third with a time of 54.67 seconds.

The meet provided valuable competition for Coahoma athletes against four-year programs and regional opponents as they continue to refine performances ahead of championship season and the athletes look to fine-tune marks before the NJCAA National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.

Coahoma will return to action at the Mississippi State Last Chance Meet in Starkville, Miss. on Friday, May 1st, 2026.
