JACKSON - The Coahoma baseball team pushed its win streak to 4 behind big evenings from Adam Cook and Dustin Allen, who helped the squad down the Millsaps JV by finals of 6-2 and 11-0. Cook went deep 3 times in the doubleheader, and Allen fired a complete game, 2-hitter in Game 2 to finish the sweep.

The Tigers opened an early lead in Game 1 when Tanner White came in on a second-inning single by Zach Morris. The 1-0 lead would hold into the 6th, when Cook's first home run and an RBI double by Latalo Newson to score Morris would provide insurance.

Kris Peet turned in a solid performance on the mound to earn his second W of the season. The righty starter went 5 innings, striking out 7 and allowing only 3 hits.

Millsaps made it interesting in the bottom of the 6th, scoring twice before sophomore fireman Garrett Short, who earned his first save of the season, induced an inning-ending groundout. An RBI single by Hayden Tapper and a 2-run blast by Cook in the top of the 7th would put it out of reach.

The Tigers would repeat the feat in the next contest, as Dustin Allen turned in one of his finest performances of a stellar 2016 season on the hill. The sophomore Holly Springs native was excellent, firing 6 innings of 2-hit, 7-strikeout ball to notch his second win and lower his ERA to 1.13.

Allen had plenty of support from his offense. The Tigers feasted on Millsaps pitching for 11 runs, 13 hits, and 18 total bases. The fourth frame was key, with CCC using 2 RBIs each from Braxton Wall, Lowell Haney and Hayden Tapper to post a 6-spot and seal their second win of the evening. Haney would finish with 3 hits, as would Cook, whose 3rd home run of the twinbill was, appropriately, a 3-run blast that put an exclamation point on the sweep in the 6th and final frame.

The Tigers (6-11-1) are slated to open their MACJC schedule Saturday at home vs. Pearl River. Start time will be noon.
