Box Score SCOOBA—The Baseball Tigers traveled to Scooba Wednesday and were defeated twice. The Lions prevailed in both games by significant margins, taking Game 1 by a final of 31-2 and Game 2 by a score of 13-2.
Jon Haden Foster started for the Tigers in Game 1. East Mississippi came out swinging and tagged him and reliever Ben Hudson for 14 runs in the 1st inning. They would touch up a host of CCC relievers for another 15 over the next 2 innings to go up 29-1 after 3.
The Tigers got an early RBI base hit from Tyler Crouch, who singled home John Pafford in the 2nd. They would add another in the 7th on an RBI by Braxton Wall to bring in Crouch.
Brooks Lott hurled the last 3 innings for the Tigers and held the Lions down before surrendering 2 runs in the 6th.
Game 2 got off to a great start for CCC. Hudson Ross crushed an offering from EMCC starter Taylor Stafford over the left field wall for a 2-run homerun in the 1st inning. The jack was the first of the year for Ross and the CCC club.
The Tigers would hold on to the 2-0 lead until the bottom of the 3rd, when the Lions struck 4 times. They would add 9 more in the 4th to seal their 10th win of conference play and their 18th win overall. Hunter Collins, Adam McPhail and Garrett Short all pitched for the Diamond Tigers.
The losses dropped CCC to 1-9 in the MACJC and 1-19 overall.
The Tigers take on Hinds CC in Clarksdale on Saturday. First pitch at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex will be thrown at noon.
