Coahoma Community College is proud to announce the appointment of Greg Wallace as the new Head Coach of the CCC softball program. With more than 22 years of experience in education and athletics, Wallace brings a winning pedigree, a passion for student-athlete development, and a reputation as a transformative leader to the Tiger family. His addition marks a new chapter for the Coahoma softball program—one fueled by discipline, tradition, and the pursuit of excellence.
A Mississippi native, Wallace is no stranger to competitive athletics. He holds a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a master's degree from Mississippi College, preparing him well for a career built around student success, athletic achievement, and community leadership. Throughout his distinguished career, Wallace has coached football, baseball, and softball at various levels, always emphasizing character, hard work, and teamwork.
Over the past 11 years, he has served in multiple leadership roles as both an Athletic Director and Head Coach, building successful programs and leading championship-caliber teams. For the past five years, Wallace has also been a coach with the Fastpitch Performance Academy, mentoring athletes across all ages and skill levels. His time with FPA reflects his passion for the sport of softball and his belief in giving athletes the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.
"Coach Wallace brings the kind of leadership, experience, and heart that we want in our program," said
Selina Reid, Coahoma's Athletic Director. "We are excited to welcome him into the Tiger family and are confident that our student-athletes will thrive under his guidance."
Off the field, Wallace is a devoted husband and father. He has been married to his wife April for 19 years, and together they have four children: daughters Caitlin, Laney, and Lindsey, and son Tyler. An avid outdoorsman and family man, he brings a strong foundation of values and balance to everything he does. Coahoma fans, get ready—Coach Wallace is set to bring energy, integrity, and a championship mindset to the diamond this season. Tiger softball is on the rise, and with Wallace at the helm, the future looks bright.
"I'm honored to join the Coahoma family and lead this talented group of young women," said Coach Wallace. "My mission is to build a program that's not just competitive on the field, but also focused on character, accountability, and growth. We're going to play hard, play smart, and represent this college with pride."
Wallace plans to implement a development-first coaching model focused on fundamentals, leadership, and personal growth—an approach he believes will elevate the entire program from the inside out. His goals include strengthening community support, increasing player recruitment, and making Coahoma a respected name in JUCO softball throughout the region and beyond.
"This is about more than softball," Wallace added. "It's about building a legacy that our players, our college, and our community can be proud of. I want every young woman who puts on a Coahoma jersey to walk away not only as a better athlete, but as a stronger individual ready to take on life."
With Coach Wallace at the helm, the Tiger softball program is poised for a breakthrough season—and a bold new era. The groundwork for greatness is being laid brick by brick, pitch by pitch. Let's go Tigers.
