The CCC baseball team played against Northeast Mississippi and East Central in a three-team round robin on Tuesday in Booneville, MS.
In the opening game, which was against NEMCC, the Tigers trailed 8-0 after three innings of play. In the top of the fourth inning,
Logan Muhleisen scored off an RBI single by
Anthony Newson and
Christo Peeks scored off an RBI single by
Bodie Agnew. Despite CCC's efforts, Northeast went on to win the matchup 12-2 in seven innings.
In the game against East Central, CCC had two runners on base with no outs in the top of the first inning. On the ensuing at bat, Muhleisen registered an RBI single that scored
Cade Gadman. Following a double play,
Anthony Newson scored off an RBI single by
Bodie Agnew.
Despite holding a 2-0 lead going into the bottom of the second inning, Coahoma fell to ECCC 16-2 in seven innings.
The third game of the round robin, which was between NEMCC and ECCC, was won by Northeast Mississippi 7-3 in nine innings.
Coahoma is now 3-13 this season; East Central is 8-10; Northeast Mississippi is 13-9. The CCC Tigers' next doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, March 11, at East Central. That series is slated to start at 2;00 p.m.
