CCC Baseball to host Kid’s Camp

03.06

The Coahoma Community College baseball program has announced they will host a Kid's Camp on March 16, from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.

The camp will take place at CCC's Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex, located at 3240 Friars Point Rd., Clarksdale, MS 38614.

First-year head coach Austin Biggs is excited to offer the camp to young athletes. He believes the event will have a threefold purpose—offering skills to young people, creating a community service opportunity for the CCC baseball team, and elevating the CCC brand.

"We want to keep putting our Coahoma Baseball name to our community while bringing people to campus," said Biggs. "It's in our name. We are a community college. This gives our athletes the opportunity to make a positive impact on our community through baseball."

The camp is open to participants ages 5-12. Participants will be grouped by age. The cost for attendance is $10.

"The camp will allow athletes from our city and surrounding area to be around college athletes and see how they go about their business," Biggs added. "With a three-hour camp like this, we will be developing the basics of throwing, fielding, and hitting. The attendees should expect a morning of fun learning!"

Biggs shared that the camp will give his team the opportunity to grow their connection to the community and develop a habit of giving.

"The camp is probably more for our team. So, they can see the community they are committed to being around," said Biggs. "I'm just excited to see what the turnout is going to be. And expect to see more campus this summer!"
