The CCC baseball team played in its second series of the 2023 regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 7. The Tigers faced Dyersburg State Community College in a two-game series, which was played in Millington, Tennessee.
Coahoma trailed 4-0 after two innings of play in the opener. In the top of the third inning, the Tigers had the bases loaded with one out when an RBI single by
Parker Harris allowed
Braden Bailey to score.
On the ensuing at bat,
Jack Cartwright recorded a two-RBI single as
Cade Gadman and
Garrett Smith scored. The side ended on the next at bat with a ground out. Coahoma trailed 4-3 in the middle of the third inning.
Dyersburg State responded with three runs in the fourth inning, and went on to win the game 13-3 in six innings.
Jake Smith got the start on the mound in the opening game for CCC, and pitched into the fourth inning.
In the second inning of the next game, the Maroon and White had the bases loaded with two outs.
Kaden Wilson was walked on the ensuing at bat, which scored
Tyler Cavenaugh.
The side ended on the next at bat. The score was 1-1 going into the bottom of the second inning. Dyersburg State scored in each inning of the game, and won 12-1 in six innings.
Logan Muhleisen was Coahoma's starting pitcher in the second matchup of the day. He recorded two strikeouts, while allowing four hits with 15 batters faced.
CCC is now 0-4 (0-0 MACCC) this season. Coahoma plays at Meridian in a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 11. The opening game of that series is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
