On Saturday, CCC baseball recorded the first two wins of the Austin Biggs era

The CCC baseball team faced North Arkansas College and Moberly Area Community College in Harrison, Arkansas, on Saturday, Feb. 18. The Tigers won their matchup against each team, while allowing a total of five runs.

Against North Arkansas in the opening game, the Tigers tallied three runs in the second inning and two runs in the fourth inning. CCC led 6-0 going into the middle of the fifth inning, and went on to win the game 7-2 in seven innings.

Coahoma recorded nine hits and six RBI off 28 at bats. Cade Gadman, Patrick Mangels, and Garrett Smith each tallied a team-leading two hits. Logan Muhleisen pitched the whole game for CCC, and tallied five strikeouts.

In the second matchup of the day, which was against Moberly Area CC, the Tigers trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the seventh inning.

Coahoma had the bases loaded with one out when Kaden Wilson registered a game-winning two-RBI single that allowed Anthony Newson and Bodie Agnew to score. Coahoma won 4-3 in seven innings.

CCC's other two runs in the game occurred in the opening inning when Christo Peeks recorded a two-run homer.

Jake Smith was Coahoma's starting pitcher for the matchup against Moberly Area. Smith allowed three runs in 3.1 innings pitched.

The matchup against North Arkansas counts as a true road game for CCC, while the contest against Moberly Area is a neutral-site game.

Coahoma is now 2-6 (0-0 MACCC) this season. Saturday's victories were the first wins of Austin Biggs' career as a head coach.

CCC plays at East Mississippi in the Tigers' next series. That doubleheader is slated for Tuesday, Feb. 21, with the opening game starting at 2:30 p.m.
