Box Score 2 The CCC baseball team faced Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, April 7, in a two-game series. The doubleheader was played at Snowden Grove Park in Southaven, Mississippi.
Coahoma was tabbed as the home team in the matchups since the series was originally scheduled to be played at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex.
The opening game was won by NWCC 13-0 in five innings. In the second matchup, CCC trailed 7-0 in the middle of the fourth inning. The bottom of the inning began with a double by Zales Lewis. After the first out; Anyelo Sanchez singled. After a strikeout resulted in the second out; Trace Thelwell was walked.
CCC had the bases loaded with two outs, but a swinging strikeout on the ensuing at bat ended the inning.
Northwest Mississippi scored two runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the sixth inning en route to a 14-0 win in six innings.
The Tigers are now 7-17 (2-12 MACCC) this season; NWCC is 17-15 (7-9 MACCC).
Coahoma is scheduled to host No. 5 Meridian Community College in CCC's next series. That doubleheader is slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
