Box Score 2 The CCC baseball team played at Mississippi Delta Community College on Tuesday, March 29, in a doubleheader. Despite the Tigers' efforts; the MDCC Trojans won both games.
In the opening matchup, Coahoma trailed 2-1 after five innings of play. In the top of the sixth inning, the Tigers took the lead off Ryan Sessums' at bat. Sessums recorded an RBI single, while an error by MDCC resulted in a 3-2 lead for CCC.
On the ensuing at bat, Anthony Newson scored off a ground out RBI by Bryland Skinner. The Tigers led 4-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Coahoma had the bases loaded with no outs. A sacrifice fly from Anyelo Sanchez resulted in Zales Lewis scoring CCC's only run of the inning. Mississippi Delta tallied two runs in the seventh inning and one run in the eighth inning.
The score was tied 5-5 in the middle of the ninth inning. With two outs and a runner on third base in the bottom of the ninth inning; a walk-off home run for MS. Delta gave the Trojans a 7-5 win in nine innings.
In the second game, CCC trailed 4-0 after two innings. The Tigers tallied one run in the top of the third inning off an RBI single by Skinner that allowed Sessums to score.
The Trojans scored three runs in the third inning and five runs in the fifth inning. MDCC won the game 12-1 in five innings.
Coahoma is now 6-14 (1-9 MACCC) this season; the Mississippi Delta Trojans are 12-11 (7-5 MACCC).
