CCC splits two-game series against Blue Mountain College (JV)

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The CCC baseball team played against Blue Mountain College's JV team in a doubleheader on Thursday, March 24. The games were played at BMC.

In the opening matchup, Coahoma's Anthony Newson scored from third base off a wild pitch in the top of the second inning. In the bottom of the inning, Blue Mountain also scored one run.

Multiple Tigers got on base in both the third inning and the fourth inning, but CCC did not score off those opportunities. BMC scored one run in the third inning and four runs in the fourth inning. Blue Mountain won the game 6-1 in seven innings.

In the second game, Coahoma trailed 6-1 going into the sixth inning. In the top of the sixth, CCC had the bases loaded with no outs. After an out, a ground ball by Bryland Skinner allowed Anyelo Sanchez to score. On the ensuing at bat, an RBI single by Zales Lewis resulted in a run by Newson. Following the second out, Chris Jones hit a two-RBI double. The Tigers tallied four runs in the the top of the sixth inning, which made the score 6-5 in favor of BMC.

CCC kept Blue Mountain scoreless in the bottom of the sixth inning. In the top of the seventh inning, the Tigers had a runner on each base with no outs. After two consecutive outs, Sanchez scored when Lewis was hit by a pitch. On the ensuing at bats, Josiah Rivera and Jones were each walked. Coahoma had a two-run lead in the middle of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the inning, BMC did not get a runner on base as the Tigers won the matchup 8-6.

Coahoma is now 6-10 (1-5 MACCC) this season. The Tigers' next doubleheader is scheduled to be at Pearl River Community College on Saturday, March 26. The two-game series is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
