The Tigers face Itawamba in CCC's first road game of the season

The Coahoma Community College football team will play at Itawamba Community College on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Coahoma head coach Travis Macon says that his team knows that Itawamba is going to "come to play."

"Those guys, they do a really good job getting their players ready to play," Macon said about the ICC coaching staff. "One thing about Coach Cannon, he does a good job and he has a coach on that staff that I really respect; Coach Green."

As for the Tigers, they are focusing on limiting their turnovers against Itawamba. Last week, turnovers and points off turnovers led to the vast majority of Pearl River's points. In reference to CCC's four turnovers, Macon said, "It's hard to overcome that."

While turnovers were an issue against the Wildcats, the Coahoma defense has been impressive thus far this season. Through the first two games of the season, the CCC defense has held opponents to an average of 243 yards per game, while the Tigers' offense has averaged 304 yards per game. When asked about his defense, Macon described their play as being "lights out."

"Even though they're playing good; we're still leaving them out their too long and that's something that me and the coaches have gotten together on and made some changes. We look forward to this week, because we (have) done had two really good days of practice," Macon said on Tuesday.

This week's matchup marks the first road game of the season for Coahoma, but CCC is looking forward to the challenge. "That's one thing about this group; they don't care where they play at. They come to play each week."

The game will be broadcasted live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the college's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
