With November just a few days away, the Coahoma Community College football team is preparing for its last regular season game of the 2021 campaign. The Tigers started the season 4-1 (3-0 North) and were ranked in the NJCAA DI Football Poll on multiple occasions.

Coahoma is now 4-4 (3-3 North) with hopes of finishing the regular season with a road victory against the East Central Community College Warriors 2-6 (2-4 South). CCC offensive coordinator Emmanuel McCray described ECCC as a "talented" and "well-coached" team.

East Central also enters this week's matchup on a three-game losing streak. Prior to that, the Warriors defeated Southwest Mississippi 21-13 and Pearl River 17-14.

Last week, Coahoma quarterback Kennique Bonner-Steward played well against Northeast Mississippi. The North Carolina native was 19-of-33 for 197 yards and three passing touchdowns. Bonner-Steward also had 16 carries for 92 yards, and only committed one turnover.

It was "one of his best performances" McCray said. "(He) did a really good job moving around in the pocket and delivering throws."

With Thursday's matchup being the 2021 regular season finale for CCC, there is an emphasis on winning it for the sophomores who will be playing in their final game with Coahoma.

If the Tigers defeat East Central, Coahoma would improve to 8-6 (6-5 North) in head coach Travis Macon's tenure at CCC.

The game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. The matchup will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the college's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
