Box Score RAYMOND- Coahoma Community College started its two-game road trip against Hinds Community College on Thursday Night. The Eagles took charge of the Tigers, ending the game in a 54-26 victory on Gene Murphy Field at the Joe Renfroe Stadium.
Hinds lit up the scoreboard first 7-0. Elijah Walker threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Javion Antonio.
Coahoma took advantage of a big miscue by the Eagles. Walker fumbled on the snap, and
Elijah Pugh returned it for a 70-yard touchdown, which cut the lead to 7-6.
The Eagles scored 47 straight points, including five rushing touchdowns by Don Ragsdale, Derrick Turner, and Zhadarian Haywood.
The Tigers hopped on the scoreboard at the end of the first half.
Dewayne Betts connected with
Sammy Carter Jr. for a 22-yard touchdown, but Hinds took a commanding 54-12 lead at the half.
The Tigers continued battling through adversity. Betts threw two more touchdown passes in the second half. He connected with
Kalem Reddix for a three-yard touchdown. He also connected with
Deldrionn Amos for a 48-yard touchdown.
Hinds totaled 438 total yards, comprised of 261 rushing yards and 117 passing yards. Turner led the Eagles with 18 carries for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Walker was 6 of 10 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Ragsdale rushed nine carries for 79 yards and a touchdown. Haywood contributed three carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns.
Coahoma calculated 224 total yards, made up of 203 passing yards and 21 rushing yards. Betts led the Tigers with 9 of 17 passes for 142 yards, five carries for 36 yards, and three touchdowns. Reddix locked eight catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. Amos captured two catches for 60 yards and a touchdown. Carter made three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown.
Coahoma goes to 1-5 on the season. They will continue a two-game road trip against crosstown rival Northwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, October 10, 2019. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Senatobia, Mississippi. The game will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on the College's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
