New Horizons: The Visionary Coaching Staff Transforming Coahoma Community College Football

In the dynamic world of college football, a new wave of coaching talent is making its presence felt, ready to make a lasting impact on the game. Leading this charge at Coahoma Community College is Eli Johnson, the newly appointed Offensive Coordinator. A remarkable talent from Oxford, Mississippi, Johnson swiftly rose through the coaching ranks after an impressive collegiate playing career at Ole Miss and a coaching stint at New Mexico State. In his debut season as an Offensive Coordinator, he successfully developed a Freshman All-American and an FCS Freshman of the Year finalist. Johnson's innovative offensive strategies and vibrant energy solidify his status as one of the most promising young coordinators in college football, now eager to bring his expertise to Coahoma's program.

Keyun J. Swinney's journey from the gridiron to the sidelines encapsulates a profound passion for football that transcends roles. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, and an alumnus of Jackson State University, Swinney's playing career spanned the NFL and several arena leagues before concluding in the Amateur to Professional Developmental Football League with the Mississippi Dynasty. Transitioning into coaching, Swinney has imparted his vast knowledge across various high schools and colleges, most recently at Lane College. His commitment to developing young talent is enhanced by his deep roots in the game and his personal connection to his players. Keyun Swinney serves as the Offensive Line Coach.

Chris Blair, a native of Columbus, Mississippi, brings a wealth of defensive acumen to the team. Blair's journey through the ranks began at East Mississippi Community College, where he was part of a staff that led the team to a NJCAA championship runner-up finish. His recent tenure at Louisiana Tech University saw the Bulldogs' defense achieve top rankings nationally and in the C-USA during the 2024 season. Chris serves as the Defensive Line Coach. Blair's prowess in recruiting and developing defensive talents has made him a pivotal figure in shaping formidable defensive units that challenge the best in college football.

The coaching team is further strengthened by the presence of Coach Anderson, a seasoned strategist known for his role in fostering academic excellence and athletic prowess among his players. Anderson's recent successes at Southeast Missouri State, where he helped lead the team to an Ohio Valley Conference Championship and an FCS Playoff appearance, highlight his effective recruiting and team-building strategies. His previous experience across multiple universities underscores his ability to enhance team performance and player development through meticulous planning and a focus on academic achievement. Anderson serves as the Wide Receivers Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

Lastly, Marcell Young, a former CFL standout and Grey Cup champion, brings his defensive expertise to the coaching staff. Young's transition from professional play to coaching has been seamless, marked by his tenure coaching cornerbacks at Hinds Community College. His deep understanding of defensive play and player psychology enriches his coaching, making him a valuable asset to the team's defensive strategies.

Together, these coaches represent the new vanguard of football coaching at the collegiate level. Their diverse backgrounds and proven track records in both playing and coaching are set to propel their teams to new heights, promising an exciting future for college football. Their collective vision and individual expertise are not just shaping the players they coach but also the very fabric of college football itself. Young serves as the Defensive Backs Coach.

We are proud to have these new coaches under the leadership of Head Coach Larry Williams, and we look forward to kicking off our first home game in August 2025 with great anticipation and excitement.
