Standout players on Coahoma's Tiger Football team were chosen for the MACJC All-State Team. The team consists of a 1st and 2nd team from each division.
Eight players made the team for the 2018 season. Tony Bowman, Kyle Jones and Caleb Sampson were selected for the 2nd team MACJC ALL-STATE NORTH Defensive Line.Â
Bowman, a Tunica, Mississippi native, had a breakout season anchoring the defensive line. He led Coahoma with 69 tackles including 21.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
Jones, who hails from Starkville, Mississippi, played beyond his expectations as a freshman. He made 34 tackles—15.5 tackles for loss and four sacks.
Sampson, a Covington, Louisiana native, came to Coahoma as a transfer from the University of Missouri, desiring to make an impact on the Tigers' defense. Sampson took advantage of that chance with an outstanding season. He had 34 tackles including eight tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
Acieon Hopkins, a Meridian, Mississippi native, was selected a 2nd team MACJC ALL-STATE NORTH Defensive Back. He made 17 tackles, two interceptions and four pass breakups.
Hattiesburg native Will Robinson received Honorable Mention recognition with the MACJC ALL-STATE NORTH Defense. He had 53 tackles including 46 solo tackles and one sack.
Antwan Lewis, a native of Riviera Beach, Florida, was selected a 2nd team MACJC ALL-STATE NORTH Offense Line player. He anchored a young offensive line that averaged out to more than 287 yards per game including 126 yards rushing and 162 yards passing. Coahoma's offense accumulated 2583 yards and 22 touchdowns. Â
Detroit, Michigan native Donnie Corley and Kosciusko, Mississippi native Stefan Harmon were selected Honorable Mention MACJC ALL-STATE NORTH Offense players.
Corley, who is originally from Detroit, Michigan, came to Coahoma seeking a second chance at playing college football. The Michigan State transfer helped out the Tigers this season by showing off his receiving skills with 40 catches for 459 yards and six touchdowns.
Harmon returned to Coahoma to lead the receiving core by making big plays for the Tigers' offense. He has made 27 catches for 255 yards and three touchdowns.
