The Coahoma Tigers kicked off their baseball season with a series of away games, facing North Arkansas College and Jackson State Community College in doubleheaders. Despite a challenging start, the Tigers managed to secure a win against Jackson State with a score of 5-2.

A highlight of the week came on February 9th when the Tigers faced the nationally ranked Meridian Eagles in Meridian, MS. The game ended in a promising 4-3 victory, showcasing the team's ability to compete against tough opponents. However, setbacks occurred on February 17th when they faced Dyersburg CC, resulting in losses in both games.

Transitioning to a neutral site contest on February 20th, the Tigers demonstrated their versatility with a convincing 7-0 victory against Northeast Mississippi. The following game proved challenging as they faced Meridian CC, resulting in a 13-1 loss.

One standout player during the first week was Daniel Ruiz, who excelled both as a batter and pitcher. With three RBIs, two runs scored, and a .438 batting average (7 for 16), Ruiz made significant contributions. On the mound, he pitched nine innings, allowing only four hits and striking out eight players, earning an outstanding 1.00 ERA.

Despite facing multiple postponements, the Tigers eagerly anticipate their home opener on February 23rd against Mineral CC. The doubleheader, set to start at noon, holds importance as the Tigers aim to finally play on their home turf.

As the Coahoma Tigers navigate the challenges and triumphs of the early season, the first week provides a glimpse into what promises to be an exciting and competitive baseball journey. The Tiger's hold a record of 3-7 thus far on the season.
