Halie Barrett

 

Haile Barrett, an international freshman majoring in sports medicine and athletic training at Coahoma Community College, is a Jamaican track and field athlete passionate about making a difference. Living by the mantra "Make improvements, not excuses. Seek respect, not attention," Haile is known for her proactive nature and dedication to achieving results. Graduating from Holy Childhood High School with an impressive sixteen CXC subjects, she brings a wealth of academic achievements to CCC, where she actively engages in student athletic training and track and field and is currently applying for the student government association.

 

Beyond her academic pursuits, Haile enjoys simple pleasures like walks, music, and puzzles during her spare time. With a supportive family and partner, she is motivated to make a lasting impact at CCC, which is evident in her becoming a certified global leader as of July 2023. Haile's exemplary 3.77 GPA and diverse involvement in campus activities position her as a standout figure at CCC, embodying the essence of academic excellence and commitment to positive change.

Out of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Kielon Jones is a standout student and track athlete at Coahoma Community College. Pursuing a major in Industrial Maintenance with a remarkable 4.0 GPA, Kielon's dedication extends to the track, where he excels in the 400m and 200m events. Inspired by his mother, Kiuna Jones, a former successful track athlete, Kielon balances rigorous track practice with academic pursuits, surrounded by a supportive community that keeps him focused.

 

Kielon's journey includes turning down offers from universities like Belhaven and the University of Montevallo in favor of Coahoma, where he thrives academically and athletically. Beyond the track, he finds solace in jogging, tackling homework, and enjoying NBA 2K. As he looks toward the future, Kielon aims to attend university, continually building on his impressive achievements. His advice to others is simple yet powerful: "Cherish the people closest to you, and stay focused on your dreams."
