Box Score After an impressive 21-14 victory over Hinds Community College last week, the Coahoma Tigers were defeated by Pearl River Community College 24-14. The CCC defense made big plays throughout the night. The Tigers forced four fumbles and recovered two of them. Each recovery occurred while Pearl River was deep in CCC territory.
Coahoma stayed within reach of the Wildcats for the vast majority of the game, but some unfortunate plays for the Tigers led to a victory for PRCC.
"The most glaring thing is that the guys played hard," CCC offensive coordinator
Emmanuel McCray said. "We just made mistakes at critical points of the game."
Pearl River led 17-0 in the third quarter when Coahoma freshman running back Queston "QJ" Skipper recorded a 52-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 17-6.
On its next possession, the CCC offense was making progress until a deflected pass led to an interception for PRCC that was returned to Coahoma's six-yard line. The Wildcats were able to convert on the opportunity, which made the score 24-6.
The Tigers responded on the following possession with a 22-yard touchdown pass from quarterback
Mekhi Norris to freshman wide receiver
Daylyn Croom. The successful two-point conversion attempt made the score 24-14. On the final possession of the game, Coahoma was able to get into the red zone, but they did not score.
CCC's next game is on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at Itawamba Community College. The matchup will be broadcasted live at
