Tigers Stunned by Trojans at 2019 Homecoming

Box Score CLARKSDALE- Coahoma Community College and Mississippi Delta Community College renewed their crosstown rivalry at the Tigers' 2019 Homecoming game. Coahoma maintained a 27-17 lead with 8:02 remaining in the game. Mississippi Delta scored 12 unanswered points including Byron Walker's 10-yard game-winning touchdown pass to Tommy Washington. The Trojans pulled off a 29-27 victory on Saturday afternoon at the James E. Miller Stadium.

Mississippi Delta hopped on the scoreboard first 8-0 with a one-yard touchdown by Patrick Jackson.

Coahoma bounced back 8-6 with Joseph Johnson's 14-yard touchdown pass to Kalem Reddix.

The Tigers took the lead 12-8 on a 12-yard touchdown from Johnson to Deldrionn Amos.

Mississippi Delta resurged when Spencer Romero made a 28-yard field goal that cut the lead to 12-11 at the half.

Coahoma's defense took advantage of a big mistake by Mississippi Delta. Walker fumbled on the snap, and Jawonta Woodruff returned it for a 30-yard touchdown, which extended the lead to 20-11.

The Trojans fought back when Walker connected with Treveon Miles for an eight-yard touchdown changing the scoreboard to 20-17.

The Tigers answered 27-17 when Johnson connected with Josh Stevenson for a three-yard touchdown.

Mississippi Delta came back 27-23 when Walker connected with Miles for a one-yard touchdown.

The Trojans totaled 408 total yards, which included 384 passing yards and 24 rushing yards. Walker led Mississippi Delta with 24 of 39 passes for 384 yards and three touchdowns. Lebarron Jones nailed 11 catches for 168 yards. Miles locked nine catches for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Washington made two catches for 51 yards and a touchdown. Jackson tallied 17 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Coahoma calculated 269 total yards made up of 219 passing yards and 50 rushing yards. Johnson led the Tigers with 21 of 31 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Reddix secured seven catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. Stevenson captured six catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Coahoma goes to 1-4 (0-3 MACJC North) on the season. They will play their final non-division game against Hinds Community College next Thursday, October 3, 2018, in Raymond, Mississippi. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Gene Murphy Field at the Joe Renfroe Stadium. The game will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch as well as on the College's radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
