Coahoma Looking to End Losing Streak Against Indians

CLARKSDALE- Coahoma worked so hard and came so close to getting a huge road victory. They had one last drive against Northeast Mississippi but came up short with a 20-18 final score. Week four is approaching for the Tigers as Itawamba comes to Clarksdale for an MACJC North battle on Thursday night.

Both teams are trying to get on the winning note and end a pair of losing streaks. The Tigers are 0-3 (0-1 MACJC North) on the season. Itawamba is 1-2 (0-1 MACJC North) and has lost two straight games.

Last week, Coahoma had 145 yards of total offense including 121 passing yards and 24 rushing yards. Myron Norfleet led the Tigers completing 18 of 28 for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Donnie Corley finished with nine catches for 99 yards and a touchdown. Jaylin Jones had 13 carries for 19 yards and a touchdown.

The Tigers defense held Northeast to 256 yards of total offense including 182 passing yards and 74 rushing yards. Joshua King had 11 tackles including two tackles for loss and two sacks. Tony Bowman had 8 tackles including one tackle for loss. Justin Gammage had five tackles and an interception.

Itawamba is coming off a 56-26 loss to East Mississippi. They had 479 yards of total offense including 258 passing yards and 221 rushing yards. Clark Mills led the Indians with 21 of 39 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Hiram Wadlington and De'Sean Dinkins combined for 204 yards and two touchdowns.

The Indians outplayed the Tigers 30-14 last season at James E. Stadium. Coahoma is looking for their first victory against Itawamba since Oct. 12 of the year 2013. They defeated the Indians 47-41 in double overtime. Something has got to give when the Tigers and Indians are going to war.

Tiger Nation will crowd the stands and await the 7 p.m. kickoff this Thursday, Sept. 20, at James E. Miller Stadium. Coahoma Football will shout out the Tigers' exceptional instructors in a Teacher Appreciation Night at the Coahoma Community College home game. We will recognize all teachers of CCC who have helped our student-athletes on their journey.

The game will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch and on our college radio station WCQC 91.3 FM.
