Box Score CLARKSDALE- Coahoma and Northeast Mississippi renewed their rivalry on Thursday afternoon. Northeast rode into Clarksdale on a three-game winning streak; looking to continue their recent success. Coahoma wanted to end that streak and pull off a big win, but Northeast outplayed Coahoma (17-0 and 15-1) in the battle of the Tigers.
In the 1st game, Coahoma fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 17-0 loss to Northeast.
Northeast (20-15, 11-7 MACJC) got on the board 2-0 in the first inning when Caleigh Wallace got a 2-run homer.
They scored four more runs in the third inning. Paige Dill got a 2-RBI single extending the lead to 6-0.
Coahoma struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Northeast Mississippi; giving up 17 runs.
Northeast Mississippi collected 15 hits on the day. Wallace, Dill, Tianna Castillo, Lizzy Van Mann, and Kelsie Gerhart each racked up multiple hits. Wallace went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits.
Breanna Tarpley got the start for Northeast. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one.
Mekayla Hubbard toed the rubber for Coahoma. She surrendered two runs on three hits over two-thirds of an inning, walking one.
Brooke Saez threw four and a third innings in relief.

Alicia Witherspoon, and Dede Mathis all had one hit to lead Coahoma.
In the 2nd game, Coahoma couldn't slow down Northeast's offense; resulting in a 15-1 loss.
Northeast scored nine runs in the first two innings. They had an early 4-0 lead on an RBI single by Caleigh Wallace and a 3-RBI double by Breanna Tarpley in the first inning. Tarpley struck again with an RBI double in the second inning extending the lead to 9-0.
Coahoma got on the scoreboard 12-1.
Lauren Schmidt got an RBI double.
Northeast Mississippi tallied 16 hits. Wallace, Dill, Tarpley, Austyn Holden, and Kelsie Gerhart each collected multiple hits. The Tigers tore up the base paths, as four players stole at least two bases. Wallace led the way with three.
Mackenzie Denton led things off on the hill for Northeast. She surrendered one run on five hits over five innings, striking out three.
Mekayla Hubbard was on the mound for Coahoma. She lasted five innings, allowing 16 hits and 15 runs while striking out three.
Alicia Witherspoon went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Coahoma in hits.
The Tigers go to (0-22, 0-20 MACJC) on the season. They will continue MACJC Conference play against Southwest Mississippi Community College. The game is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Apr. 8, 2018, in Summit, MS. It will be part of a doubleheader followed by game two at 4 p.m.
