CLARKSDALE– Coahoma Community College men's basketball had a long holiday break and are ready to hit the hardwood. They start the second half of the 2017-18 season in the MACJC North. The Mighty Tigers will take on East Mississippi Community College. The game is set for this Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. in Scooba, MS.
Head Coach Michael Stringer believes that his team is capable of making a big run in the MACJC.
"There are people that wonder what happened, people that watch and people that make things happen," said Stringer. "Our players have been very consistent. We must find a way to finish games."
The Mighty Tigers (2-9, 0-1 MACJC North) have a very young and deep team this season. They are led by sophomores
Malik Bailey and
Tarquise Harris who both average 11 points per game.
Daquon Morris is a high-flying freshman who averages 10 points per game.
Marcus Summerville,
Dykellius Grandberry,
Courtney Stovall,
Robert Boyd and
DeNori Berry bring a lot of firepower to Coahoma.
The Tigers came off a 66-53 loss to Jones County Junior College on Dec. 7, 2017. Berry led the Tigers with 10 points. Bailey finished with nine points, including 3 three-pointers. Boyd and Summerville scored eight points each.
East Mississippi (7-5, 0-1 MACJC North) has played a grueling schedule preparing for division play. The Lions are talented and deep as well. They are led by Terryonte Thomas, Cam Horton and Keith Harris.

Both teams are looking for their first division win. East Mississippi is 6-1 at home this season, while Coahoma is looking to end a four-game losing streak and start the second half on the right track.
"We can go 1-1 and get back in the division race," said Stringer. "We want to win the division and see where the process takes us."
This game will be part of a doubleheader that's preceded by the Coahoma vs. East Mississippi women's game at 5:30 p.m.
