Postseason basketball has officially arrived for Coahoma Community College as both the Tigers and Lady Tigers secured spots in the upcoming playoffs. After months of hard work, close contests, and key conference matchups, both programs are now preparing for the next chapter of their seasons. They will fight to extend their runs and compete for the regional championship.

Tied with Holmes Community College for the No. 5 seed, every possession down the stretch carried added weight. Despite falling to the bulldogs, 75 – 64 in their regular season finale, the loss did not diminish what they had accomplished throughout conference play. Their work ethic and drive throughout the season earned them a postseason berth and another opportunity to compete. 

Now the Tigers will turn their attention to their matchup against Northeast Mississippi community college Tigers. In a Tiger vs Tiger contest that will see both programs battling to keep their seasons alive. The last time these two teams faced off it was a loss for the tigers, but the Tigers will be sure to prevent history repeating itself. The intensity and familiarity between these two teams guarantees this post season tournament game to be highly competitive with high octane energy.

While the men had a highly contested battle to secure their spot, the women were leaving no doubt in on the table. The tone for the game was set from opening tip. Mariah Fenner scored a career high 22 points over  the course of the game.  Alongside her was Jairya Rankins, who scored 21 points and 11 rebounds to secure a double-double. Rankins' presence on both ends of the floor proved critical, as she controlled the boards and provided consistent scoring in key moments.

However, the victory was far from an individual effort. The Lady Tigers displayed balanced contributions across the roster, with teammates stepping up defensively, executing in transition, and maintaining composure throughout all four quarters. Their collective effort resulted in an impressive win that not only clinched a playoff berth but also secured home-court advantage for their first postseason contest.

The significance of home-court advantage cannot be overstated. Playing in front of a supportive crowd provides added energy and momentum, particularly in high-stakes playoff settings. For the Lady Tigers, earning that opportunity reflects both their resilience and their ability to rise in crucial moments.

As the postseason begins, both Coahoma programs carry momentum, determination, and belief. The Tigers are eager for redemption and ready to compete in their rematch, while the Lady Tigers look to build on their dominant performance and defend their home floor. Coahoma will not be counted out and the Tigers and Lady Tigers are ready to represent their program with pride as they step onto the postseason stage.
