Mighty Tigers Continues Road Trip to Summit

CLARKSDALE- Coahoma Community College started their season with back to back road games. The Mighty Tigers was competitive in both games resulting to a 1-1 record. They got a season opening victory 81-75 over East Central Community College. The next day, the Tigers had fought back but came up short in a 78-74 loss to Jones County Junior College.

Malik Bailey has been leading the way for the Tigers averaging 22.5 points per game. Dequan Morris averaging eight points and five rebounds a game. Dykellius Grandberry is averaging nine points and four assists a game. Coahoma has a very deep bench that can go as much as 10 to 11 deep.

Coahoma Head Coach Michael Stringer likes the effort of his team and knows things are going to get better. "I'm happy and thankful of where we're at but I don't settle for anything," said Stringer. "Both games came down to the closing seconds. Our guys gave us an opportunity to win the game."

Coahoma continues a tough road trip against Southwest Mississippi Community College this Monday Nov. 6, 2017 in Summit, MS at 8 p.m. The Tigers are looking for their second win on the season. This is the third game of a five game road trip to start the season.

"The kids don't want to take a back seat to anything. They want to win as bad as I want to win," said Stringer. "Hopefully we'll be in the thick of things when the games really count."

This game will be part of a double header that's preceded by Coahoma vs Southwest Mississippi women's game at 6 p.m.

The game will broadcast live at www.coahomasports.com/watch. Pregame will be at 5:45 p.m.
