Tigers Fall In Meridian, Little Rock

Ankston in double figures both games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The CCC Tigers fell at Meridian and Arkansas Baptist in back-to-back road contests Monday, November 23rd and Tuesday, December 1st. Jonathan Ankston led the way in Meridian with 18 points and followed up with 13 points at Little Rock, but with the losses, the team fell to 2-7 on the year.

The Tigers got off to a slow start at Meridian, falling behind by 16 at the half. An inspired comeback effort cut it to two possessions in the late going, but the team was unable to complete the task and fell 82-74.

Ankston's 18-point, 5-assist performance in Meridian was coupled with 17 points from LaTerrence Henderson. It was the 5th time this season that Henderson has scored at least 14 in a game. Monte Martin finished with 14.

At Arkansas Baptist, the Tigers were once again led by Ankston, who poured in 13 points, and Da'Quan Forrest, who scored the team's first 5 and accumulated a total of 14.

The transition attack of the Buffs proved to be too much though. Behind 21 points from Oklahoma State transfer Stevie Clark, the home squad was able to rack up a 15-point lead at half on the strength of a number of forced turnovers and fast-break buckets. They ran away with the game in the 2nd, winning by a final of 108-72. With the win, the Buffs improved to 11-1 on the season.

The Tigers return home tomorrow against Itawamba (4-4). Tip in The Pinnacle is slated for 8 pm.
