Box Score CLARKSDALE - The CCC Football Tigers fell in their final home game of the 2015 season 34-17 Thursday evening to the Holmes Bulldogs. Dominic Marino and Steven Barnes each found the endzone for CCC.
Marino got the scoring going early, breaking off a 44-yard TD run on the game's opening drive to put CCC up less than a minute into the game. A Holmes rushing touchdown by Dre Massey late in the first evened things up, but the Tigers were able to retake the lead on a 32-yard field goal by Kian Richard early in the 2nd. The Richard field goal capped a 55-yard drive and made it 10-7.
Holmes responded to the field goal though with a 4-play, 62-yard drive of their own that ended in a 5-yard TD run by Matt Fuller. Josiah Coatney would then pick off Marino on the ensuing CCC drive and return the pick 40 yards to make it 20-10.Â
Trailing by 17 at half, the CCC defense clamped down in the 3rd, keeping Holmes scoreless in the quarter. Steven Barnes got the Tigers on the board late in the period with a tenacious 9-yard run across the goal line to cut the Holmes lead to 10.
But once again the Bulldogs were able to respond, with Fuller breaking off a 55-yard rush for a touchdown after a CCC turnover early in the 4th. Fuller would finish with 20 carries for 180 yards and 2 TDs.Â
Marino finished with 12 rushes for 125 yards for CCC. Devonta Jones hauled in 4 passes for 41 yards, and Barnes finished with 51 yards on 10 carries. Defensively, Marquze Little, Kendrick Gibson, and Chance Griffin all registered sacks for the Tigers.Â
CCC closes out its 2015 schedule with a trip to Northwest on Thursday, October 22. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 pm in Senatobia. A live stream of the game will be available on coahomasports.com and Delta Force Radio.
