It came down to the wire on Friday, as Coahoma CC Tigers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 7-5, over SMCC Bears. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the ninth when Miranda Castaneda doubled, scoring two runs.
A home run to center field by Leeann Huddleston gave Coahoma CC Tigers the 3-1 lead in the bottom of the third.
SMCC Bears tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a single by Maggie Wilks and an error.
SMCC Bears committed an error, which helped Coahoma CC Tigers tie the game at four in the bottom of the eighth. SMCC will soon regain the lead.
Coahoma CC Tigers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the ninth when Marika Bonner singled, scoring one run, and Castaneda doubled, scoring two runs to give the Lady Tigers their first win of the season.
Huddleston provided pop in the middle of the lineup and led Coahoma CC Tigers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Castaneda led Coahoma CC Tigers with two hits in five at-bats. Coahoma CC Tigers turned one double play in the game.
Lady Tigers enter the season's final week with match-ups against Holmes, East Mississippi, and Copiah Lincoln to round out the regular season.
