Graves hits two home runs in one game, but CCC drops doubleheader at Southwest Tennessee

The CCC softball team fell short in both games of Tuesday's doubleheader at Southwest Tennessee Community College.

In the opening game, Southwest Tennessee led 8-0 after three innings of play. Coahoma outscored Southwest Tennessee 7-1 throughout the next two innings, but CCC fell 15-7 in six innings.

In the fourth and fifth innings combined, the Lady Tigers recorded three home runs. C'Asia Grayer hit one homer, while Ziay Graves tallied two. The Lady Tigers tallied eight hits in the matchup.

The Maroon and White took the first lead of the second matchup when an RBI single by Talah Hunter in the top of the second inning allowed Kaela Pangman to score. CCC extended its lead in the top of the third inning when Ziay Graves scored off a wild pitch.

Coahoma led 2-0 in the middle of the third inning, but Southwest Tennessee scored two runs in the bottom of the inning. The score remained tied until the bottom of the fifth inning as Southwest Tennessee went on to win the game 10-2 in six innings.

The Lady Tigers are now 5-7 (0-0 MACCC) this season. Coahoma's next doubleheader will be at East Central on Saturday, March 11. That series is slated to start at 1:00 p.m.
