The CCC softball team defeated Rust College in a two-game series on Sunday, March 5. Coahoma scored 34 runs throughout the doubleheader, while allowing just four. The Maroon and White now have a five-game winning streak.
In the opening game, the Lady Tigers scored 13 runs in the first inning. On the opening at bat of the bottom of the second inning, Coahoma's
C'Asia Grayer hit an inside-the-park home run.
CCC went on to win the game 17-1 in five innings. Grayer,
Joiya Clark, and
Ashanti Stephens each tallied a team-leading three runs in the matchup.
Ta'Kia Jackson was the winning pitcher.
Rust College scored two runs in the top of the first inning of the second matchup, but the Lady Tigers countered with 12 runs in the bottom of the inning.
Coahoma went on to win the game 17-3 in five innings. CCC recorded 12 hits in the matchup, and was led in that stat by
Talah Hunter who registered three.
Kaela Pangman was the winning pitcher.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-5 (0-0 MACCC) this season. Up next for Coahoma is a doubleheader at Southwest Tennessee CC on Tuesday, March 7. That series is slated to begin at noon.
