The CCC softball team fell to Itawamba on Tuesday, March 21, in a doubleheader at the Eddie C. Smith Sportsplex.
Coahoma scored in the bottom of the first inning when an RBI double by
Ashanti Stephens scored
Talah Hunter. Later in the side, Stephens stole home to score the Maroon and White's second run of the inning.
Despite the 2-0 lead after the opening inning, Itawamba won the game 15-2 in five innings.
In a similar fashion to the first game, Coahoma took a lead in the bottom of the first inning when an RBI double by Stephens allowed Hunter to score.
CCC led 1-0 after the first inning, but ICC led 8-1 going into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Tigers scored one run in the bottom of the fourth inning when
Ziay Graves scored off an RBI ground out by
Sania Riley, but the Lady Tigers fell short 8-2 in seven innings.
The Lady Tigers are now 5-15 (0-8 MACCC) this season; Itawamba is 19-6 (6-2 MACCC).
Coahoma hosts Jones College on Friday, March 24, in a two-game series. It is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
