The Coahoma Community College softball team opened its 2023 regular season on Friday, Feb. 10, with a doubleheader at National Park College.
In the first game, Coahoma scored two runs in the top of the first inning with two outs.
Talah Hunter stole home during
Ashanti Stephens' at bat, which was followed by
C'Asia Grayer stealing home on the ensuing at bat for
Sania Riley.
National Park College responded with four runs in the first inning to go along with six runs in both the fourth and fifth inning. Coahoma fell in the season-opening game, 16-2 in five innings.
In the second matchup of the day, CCC once again scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Hunter singled on the second at bat of the side, which was followed by a two-run home run by
Ziay Graves on the following at bat.
Coahoma scored again in the fourth inning, but the Lady Tigers fell 12-3 in five innings.
Delainee Burnham was Coahoma's starting pitcher in the first game, while
Madison Stringer also pitched in the matchup. In the second game,
Kaela Pangman pitched the entire game for CCC.
Coahoma is now 0-2 (0-0 MACCC) this season. The Lady Tigers have a four-game series scheduled for Feb. 11-12 at North Arkansas College.
