The CCC football team plays at Southwest Mississippi Community College on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 7:00 p.m. Each team enters the matchup with a 1-0 record.
The Tigers opened the season with a 52-28 win over East Central. Coahoma trailed 20-3 with 3:37 to play in the opening quarter, but responded with a 49-8 run to claim the 24-point victory.
CCC's offense tallied 513 total yards, while Coahoma's defense allowed 223. The Tigers' time of possession was recorded at 34:56. A reason for that was CCC's rushing attack, which tallied 298 yards off 6.8 yards per carry. Another factor in that was Coahoma's defense forcing four turnovers.
As for SMCC, the Bears defeated Mississippi Delta 50-0 in the opening week of the season. Southwest led 37-0 at halftime.
The most recent game between Coahoma and SMCC occurred on Aug. 31, 2017, at Southwest Mississippi. That matchup was won by CCC 35-20.
