Box Score On Saturday, No. 15 Coahoma hosted Holmes on Homecoming. Tiger Nation showed up in mass as a large crowd was in attendance at James E. Miller Stadium.
With 13:43 left in the opening quarter; CCC scored when Devonte Agee returned a punt 54 yards for a touchdown. Agee was not the intended returner, but he picked the ball up off the turf following a short punt.
HCC responded with a touchdown to tie the game 7-7 with 10:00 remaining in the opening quarter.
Early in the second quarter, Holmes' offense had the football deep in CCC territory when Coahoma's Jaylin Simmons recorded an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown. The Tigers led 14-7 with 11:18 to play in the opening half.
Holmes went on to score 14 unanswered points, which included a touchdown with :57 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
On the ensuing drive, CCC's Mekhi Norris connected with wide receiver Ahmad Jackson on a 45-yard touchdown pass with :10 seconds left in regulation. The extra point attempt was successfully made by Josh Eaves, which tied the score 21-21.
Holmes received the football to begin overtime, and the Bulldogs scored a touchdown. The Tigers were prevented from scoring on their possession in OT, which resulted with HCC winning 28-21 in overtime.
The Coahoma Tigers are now 3-1 (1-1 North) this season; Holmes is 2-2 (1-1 North).
CCC's next game will be at Copiah-Lincoln on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6:30 p.m.
