Box Score The CCC football team played at Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday, Sept. 15. The Maroon and White got the win to stay undefeated on the season.
Coahoma won the coin toss, and deferred to the second half. MS. Delta's opening possession went into CCC territory, but resulted in a turnover on downs.
On the third play of the ensuing drive, Coahoma QB Jaden Johnson connected with wide receiver Terrick Latham for a 36-yard pass. Johnson threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to WR Marquis Willis on the following play. CCC led 6-0 with 10:50 to play in the opening quarter.
MDCC responded with a 36-yard field goal by Davon Klein. The Tigers led 6-3 with 5:21 remaining in the first quarter.
On the ensuing possession; Coahoma put together a nine-play, 77-yard drive that was capped off by a two-yard TD run by QJ Skipper. CCC led 13-3 with 1:02 to play in the opening quarter.
Delta's next drive resulted in a turnover when Coahoma's Mark Dorsey Jr. recorded an interception off a deflected pass by Tylonde Bateaste. The CCC offense scored off the turnover when Johnson found receiver Kobee Lockett on a slant route for an eight-yard touchdown pass. Coahoma led 20-3 with 14:14 to go in the second quarter.
The Trojans countered with a touchdown, and then forced a three-and-out on the following possession. MDCC had the football with an opportunity to trim CCC's lead, but Coahoma's Trenton Yowe registered a 65-yard interception return for a touchdown. The Tigers led 27-10 with 8:57 remaining in the first half.
Coahoma extended its lead in the third quarter when Johnson connected with former Liberty Flame Ahmad Jackson on a nine-yard touchdown pass.
Following an interception by CCC's Jaylin Simmons; the Tigers tallied a 43-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to Willis, which made the score 41-10 with 4:05 to go in the third quarter.
Johnson recorded his fifth TD of the game in the fourth quarter off a one-yard run. The final score was 47-10 in favor of the Coahoma Tigers.
CCC is 3-0 (1-0 North) this season; the Mississippi Delta Trojans are 0-3 (0-1 North).
The Tigers host Holmes on Homecoming in Coahoma's next game. That matchup is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2:00 p.m.
