There is a lot of excitement surrounding the 2022 CCC football team. The Tigers return 12 starters from last year's team, while having upgraded at some key positions.
"The big expectation this year is to finish strong," CCC head coach Travis Macon said. "I thought we had a really good start last season. … I want to be able to finish the second half of the season. So, with everything we do; we talk about starting fast and finishing strong."
On offense, Coahoma returns Jakobi Jackson (RB), TJ Storey (OL), QJ Skipper (RB), Kobee Lockett (WR), Torris Robinson (OL), Marvin Sanders (RB), Mekhi Norris (QB), etc. Storey was named MACCC First-Team All-Conference North last season, and Jackson was tabbed MACCC Second-Team All-Conference North.
CCC's defense brings back Malik Puryear (DL), Brandon Dean (DL), Zacchaeus Burnett (DL), Kaleb Brown (DL), Zelion Chestnut (DL), Robert Spearmon (DL), Allen Robertson (DL), etc. Puryear, who is a former Wake Forest Demon Deacon, was tabbed MACCC First-Team All-Conference North last season.
Coahoma has added talented players to this season's roster such as Jaden Johnson (QB), Ahmad Jackson (WR), Marquis Willis (WR), Terrick Latham (WR), Trenton Yowe (DB), Tymon Wells (DL), Devonte Agee (LB), Josh Eaves (K), etc.
The Tigers open their season on Thursday, Sept. 1, with a home game against East Central Community College. The matchup will broadcast live on coahomasports.com/watch and WCQC 91.3 FM.
